In addition to receiving financial and comprehensive health benefits, AISH clients may also be eligible for personal benefits on a one-time or ongoing basis for needs such as travel to medical appointments, moving costs or special goods and services such as specialized clothing or medical alert services. A specialized clothing benefit is provided to assist AISH clients who require additional or adapted clothing related to their disability. The rate is the actual cost of the specialized clothing to a maximum of $300 per 12-month period. The Income Support program only provides financial assistance to replace clothing when a situation occurs that presents a serious health or safety risk and is beyond the control of the household unit, and the person requiring clothing cannot wait until the next payment date, make alternative arrangements or access other available resources. The maximum amount that can be issued is $214 per adult member of the household and $160 per child.
